Why the Elf King Almost Made Us Miss Dinner and Other More Important Things (Day 10)

Tuesday July 18th, 2017

"Elf Kings don't exist", you may say.  In our little world they do.

I'm getting ahead of myself though.  The most important part of our day consisted of two little missys.

Our Hope is a little jealous, but otherwise doing great.  They both claim my lap and (just ask Amy) you hear circus music when they are fighting over me.  It really is pretty funny (and sweet).  God has instilled something in them to love Amy so much, but to somehow know I'm their mommy.

I COULD NOT do this without Amy.
Side note: Actually Wednesday is her birthday!

Hope would put her feet on Grace...teeny tiny Grace.

Yet Grace came out of her shell and can fend for herself...and then some.
Hope is a little grumpy about that...and it's super cute!

We finalized Grace's adoption today! She is legally our daughter as well!!!

Yes, Hope normally does the splits like this.
The extreme flexibility is very common in children with Down Syndrome.
Grace on the other hand sits criss cross much of the time making herself even smaller.

This is Grace's normal position.

Grace's biggest two issues right now surround sleep an food.

Hope is now sleeping wonderfully, even at nap time... though in a "different" position.

Grace on the other hand desperately needs a nap, but fights it tooth and nail.
(Where in the world did that phrase come from?!)

At bed time she's exhausted.

But NOPE!
She's too cute though.

Then there is Hope, scooted over beside me, talking up a storm.

Grace (below) finally fell asleep only to wake when I laid her down.

She woke up several times in the night and is now on my lap while I rock her in my chair and hunt and peck writing this post.

Everyone else is asleep.

Grace really did come out of her shell today though.  She baby babbles, but copies a ton as well.  She and Hope will pick up a lot from their siblings.

Yes, our three and a half year old Grace is as tiny as expected.  she wears 6-9 month and 12 month clothing.  she is tinier than her two year old sister, but has the most adorable Buddha belly.

She's been a bit congested the last couple of days, so I appreciate continued prayers for health for all of us...also sleep.  Please pray Grace starts sleeping better and taking her much needed nap.  SHE NEEDS THIS.

 Grace, as I said earlier, fends for herself now.  Hope at first could do anything to her, but was fairly gentle, just pulling off her bows and such.  Grace didn't mind, she like to take the bows off anyway (chuckle).

Grace quickly started to show her independence though and assert herself.  She will take what she wants, but share the rest with her sister.  Don't worry though.  Hope lets us know (chuckle).
Hope actually sulked a bit today at having to share me.  It was uber cute!!!

In other news, the other special need we were told (just by word of mouth) that Grace had is non existent,  We did find that Hope's eyes vibrate and we will have to get that checked out.  she seems to see great, but.....

Now food...

Where Hope will only eat a rice cereal/formula/sometimes banana concoction and won't drink.   Grace "wants all the foods".  She takes a bottle and when I'm feeding the girls she gets as close to me as humanly possible.  You can't feed them separately or Grace wants to eat twice.  She will kindly maneuver Hope out of the way.  Then you have Hope who does this rolling her lips/spitting thing while eating and thinks its hilarious.  I'm usually completely decorated after feeding her (laughing).

Then there comes the Elf King.

He's our friend on television in China...along with the dark elf.
We've decided
that they are not allowed to be together.

and the prince's mom has issues.

We might not have been able to tell what they were saying, but the plot line we came up with was AWESOME!!!  Amy finely found it on  a YouTube type station with subtitles.  Our plot line was SO much funnier, but not by much.

There are 29 episodes, so we may disappear for awhile (wink).

We almost missed dinner (us, not the girls), because we couldn't stop watching.
Yes, I am not joking.

So from us and the Elf King, have a blessed night and sweet sleep!!!!

(This is written with a sleep deprived brain and there are no promises any of this will make sense.)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Please pray friends...
Immanent:
*THAT GOD IS GLORIFIED THROUGH OUR WORDS AND ACTIONS.
*For Grace to feel comfortable and show us her beautiful self. PLEASE PRAY SHE SLEEPS with NO FEAR.
*For Hope to learn to suck/drink quickly.
*For my eyes, they started itching and when that went away they started feeling swollen (and are a bit bloodshot).  Part of my inner eye on one eye actually looks wrinkled (but doesn't hurt) Please pray for complete healing NOW.
*That Hope's heart condition shows NO issues.
*For Hope and Grace's health.... and my and Amy's health too.
*For Hope~Glory and Grace~Victory: Their lives have been rocked.  WE know it's a beautiful thing and blessing, but everything is unfamiliar.  We don't look, smell, or sound like her.  (Picture being handed to someone you don't know, have never seen before, and told they are your new family and to go with them.)
*Please pray there are no hiccups, paperwork or otherwise during this entire trip across the world.
*That Amy and I's bodies are strong and there is no pain and we feel AWAKE and ALERT.   Please also pray there are NO health issues period during our trip...NONE AND WE GET SOME SLEEP.
*Please pray the weather is unseasonably cool in both regions we will be in.  It's not the most important prayer, very possibly the least, but we appreciate it.  Please pray no matter what the weather it doesn't effect us negatively. (When I say "hot", I mean sticky, sweaty, steam bath, sauna, dripping wet, fogged up sunglasses hot.)
*Please pray for our kids and families hearts (ours too) and safety.  This is the hard part, leaving them.  Peace that passes understanding is a good thing.
*Please pray that there is NO lost luggage during any of our trip.  Though we pack a set of clothing in carryons, this is something we hope we don't have to face. (smile).
*Please pray for Tom, Elizabeth, and Alessandra that they find joy, new friends, and a beautiful rhythm in their new duty station.
PLEASE PRAY FOR THE FOLLOWING TWELVE PRAYER REQUESTS AS WELL.
1. THAT GOD IS GLORIFIED IN EVERY STEP OF THIS ADOPTION (MOST IMPORTANT TODAY AND EVERY DAY).
2.  I feel a deep need to have everyone join us in prayer for the attachment of our girls.  Please pray they have NO attachment issues and attach to us as a family very quickly.  We pray that GRACE and HOPE have NO issues with attachment...NONE (that God prepares them as well).
3.  We ask for prayers also that Grace and Hope are good sleepers.  I know that may sound trivial, but knowing what can happen (we've had it both ways) we know if they can sleep (both in country and at home), transition will go much smoother.
4. PLEASE pray protection against ALL of satan's schemes.  He's been messing with our family and with Amy and her family.  PLEASE pray a strong concrete, cement, gold, silver (smile) wall between our lives and his schemes.
5. Please pray for Thomas and I's anxiety/stress.  Life is keeping us going a million miles an hour and peace that passes understanding would be very very welcome!  (Prayers for physical strength as well for both of us)
6. PLEASE PRAY THERE ARE NO PAPERWORK ISSUES IN COUNTRY AND EVERYTHING GOES FLAWLESSLY.  This is my current worry...pffttt.
7. That my traveling companion (Amy) and I stay well (completely) within country and are safe....not even a nauseous stomach which commonly happens at least once.
 8. That God uses us/speaks through us while we are there, see what we need to see and doing what we need to do.
9. That our families are safe while we are apart and that it is a peaceful (and safe) time for them.
10. For Timothy's complete healing...and that he has walking and running in his future (smile).  That his pain is minimal.
  1. The eye vibrating (wiggling) is Nystagmus. Some kids out grow it. I developed it after I was diagnosed with a neuro disease. The girls remind me SO MUCH of my Pauly and Julius!! Watch out for that Hope- she's smart. Smart kids get bored easily! LOL! Julius picked on Pauly until one day "Super Pauly" emerged. We were in shock! He pulled Julius' hair hard!! We can easily distract Pauly from using his super powers. He's very sweet but stubborn like your Grace. But we always have to watch out for Julius' leg that often pops out conveniently as his sis and bro's walk by. ooooh! That stinker! Yup, he's bored- so tripping people cures that. :o( (((HUGS))) We have/are praying! God's Will!! Praise God! God's Will be done!
  2. What a wonderful update! They will settle in and be just as much like siblings with the whole love/hate thing going on. LOL! I can imagine Hope was a little befuddled when Grace joined the clan. Oh, wait until they get home. That's when the real circus begins. ;) Praying for all of you to stay healthy and well-rested! <3
  3. When I was in China 13 years ago I loved watching Chinese soaps without subtitles. :-)
In the joy of following our Heavenly Father, we sometimes choose to proceed with a whisper, a verse, or a downright shove...no matter how we follow Him, the momentum that follows is like nothing we've ever experienced before.
Join the momentum...it is a beautiful place to be. It's not always easy, but then the best things never are.
