A Little Bit of Valentine's Day, Laughter, and Loving Like Jesus

Though on Valentines Day, cuteness often wafts through our house....

2012

The kids love it for another reason....the pranks.  They are good natured and filled with love between Thomas and I.

It started the year after we were married when my husband made six foot letters in the snow (to be read from our fourth floor apartment in Germany).  They said, "I Love Kat".

I've changed Thomas' ringtone to...hmmm....let's  just say  an embarrassing one.  I turned the volume up and called him during a meeting at work.  (His coworkers are awesome! They may have asked him for a couple of weeks, "Are you too sexy for that Thomas?")

He's decorated my car and spray painted "I Love Kat" on our dead winter lawn in red spray paint.

This was one of our favorite.  It took place in 2014.

"143 balloons filling up Thomas' car at work...the ones in front filled with glitter, one poem (Cupid's Cold) explaining the glitter (because Cupid got trapped in his car with a cold). He has to pop balloons to drive. Valentines Prank War complete....waved to security...everyone's day is brighter."  Facebook Status 2014

We've always had fun.  This year our pranks were rained out.  The kids love the little bit of candy they got, but that's not their favorite part.  Valentines Day is filled with laughter and hugs and goofiness around here.

My friend's text this morning says it all. "Happy Valentines Day! Send prank pics please."

We still had beauty today though.

It was just a bit tamer, though amazingly cute.

We still had laughter, but that was in a private conversation with my oldest daughter that literally made me cry I laughed so hard.  Nope, can't share this one!  (Still laughing....)

This Valentine's Day night I am thankful and thoughtful.

I'm thankful for what God has given me.

I think about Hope~Glory, who has Congenital Heart Disease.  In a referral file this could mean about anything (minor or severe).  I think about her days on this earth and wonder how long.  I think about her chance to love.

I think about Grace-Victory, maybe walking now (at three).  She could be running for all I know.  We haven't had an update for a year and a half.

I think about the sacrifice God has made for us...and how my humanness shows through just a bit too much.  God has reminded me over and over lately, "Do not turn to the right or the left."

I think about how we lose track of what this day COULD be...a day to love as Jesus loves...not in stuff (though you know I love my chocolate), but in action.

Maybe I'm thinking just a bit too much tonight.

I pray each day brings us closer to loving as Jesus loves.  Starting right here on Valentine's Day is a fantastic time to start.

Have a sweet chocolate filled dream sleep friend (no roach clowns).

Happy Valentine's Day!

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.  By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:34-35

In the joy of following our Heavenly Father, we sometimes choose to proceed with a whisper, a verse, or a downright shove...no matter how we follow Him, the momentum that follows is like nothing we've ever experienced before.

Join the momentum...it is a beautiful place to be. It's not always easy, but then the best things never are.
