Two AM Thoughts, Questions, Cuties, and Update (Intermission 1 5/8)

Yes, I really do have an attachment post, but I must admit I'm not doing a series like I normally do.  I'm finding that as our family grows, my time is more limited.  Who'd uh thunk it?!

It's about...hmmm...2 AM here and I awoke thinking all kind of snarky thoughts.  Waking up HOT HOT HOT for me makes me a little bearish.  The air conditioning wouldn't turn on.

Thomas checked the circuit breaker and I do believe he's my new Super Hero.  Air Conditioning Man doesn't sound very romantic, but let me tell you...he's HOT!  I'll take him ANY day!

I thought, since I was up, I'd answer a couple questions, share a few funnies (and cuties), and give a mini (God BLESSED) dental/medical update.

Question:

Is that mirror in your entryway breakable?  Where'd you get it?

If you remember when we first arrived back from the "U", we had several "needs/wants" for Benjamin.  Becoming self aware is a HUGE necessity and a mirror helps.  It helps him see his emotion, expression, etc.  Ben watches others and IS gradually learning healthy emotion, but seeing himself and his own emotion is wonderful and teaches him how HIS face looks.  He sits in front of it all the time.

A sweet blog friend bought us this mirror and yes, it is a shatter proof kids mirror (which is a must for Ben).

Here is where you can get them...

Insurance and the roof?

In my last post I talked about our prayer request for our house being fixed.  Our foundation exploded when we were in the process with Jael.  Literally, we heard a boom in the middle of the night and still have a hole in our front porch where the cable gave way.  Our contractor had NEVER seen that happen before.  Craziness (smile)...

Because of the cable giving way, it has shifted the house.  This has caused a space in the roof.  We also have weather damage and have had weather damage for awhile.

When we called insurance, we had a dishonest (just being truthful) adjuster come out...literally.  We've had SUCH a good experience with our insurance, this surprised us.  He actually tried, not knowing our contractor is one of my husband's closest friends, to convince our contractor to say it was NOT weather damage...NO JOKE.

We had to file a complaint.  It was NOT a pleasant experience.  Some things would flat out not be covered (which we understood) because in our state 99% of people do not have coverage on their foundations and that is what caused some of the damage to our roof.  Foundation coverage is SUPER expensive since most people at some time will have damage in our state.  It's an older roof and our mother (with the same type weather damage, different insurance) had a totally different and MUCH better experience.

We just don't have the funds this soon after bringing Ben home.

Our dream is to fix our house and either expand it (convert the garage maybe) or move to somewhere with land.  Don't get me wrong...we don't yearn for a new or perfect house.  We long for a house with more room for children.

Funnies (and Cuties)

Gabriel (3) out of the blue: "I LOVEEEEEE the Wiggles Mommy!"
Mommy:  "Ok honey, why?"
Gabriel:  "They have guitars and grills mommy."
Mommy: "What?  I'm not sure I understand."
Gabriel with a big sigh: "GUITARS AND GIRLS MOMMY."
(Head on desk...I am in so much trouble)

Rachel (3) and Jael (5) in a conversation they didn't know I was listening to.
Rachel: This is not daddy's house. He said its not.
Jael: No, it's God's house and when we go to Heaven, we're going to be with Jonathan. We get to stay in Heaven with him and we'll get to be with God and Jesus.
(Just when you think your head will end up on the desk again...AWWWWWWWW!)

THE VERY NEXT CONVERSATION:
Jael- I've got M & M's in my ice cream.
Rachel- Yup, that's for pooping in the potty
(Many potty training parents will understand that profound thought.)

Mini (GOD BLESSED) Medical/Dental Update

I admit it.  I didn't know exactly how we would do it.  We didn't, God did.

This last appointment on Monday set Ben back some with attachment.  It had to happen, was as tender as they could make it, but has Ben not trusting us as much.  He has had manic episodes (non violent) off and on for the last two days.  It comes from fear.  He doesn't trust us to keep him safe.  It will come again (the trust) with time, but the appointment was traumatic and we allowed it as a necessity for his health.

We aren't looking forward to the next appointment for that reason, but also the funds are daunting.

When I called today to make a dental appointment for Ben at the local Children's hospital (for his teeth), they got us in quickly.  It will be this week.

We have dental insurance, but even with that the costs will be...lets just say A LOT.  When I mentioned he had Down Syndrome they, in such sweet kindness, said that they have a grant for children with DS.  After insurance pays it covers EVERYTHING...no joke.  I literally got tears in my eyes.  His work will be so extensive he will have to be put to sleep.  He will also have a heart echo at this point.

Praising God!!!!

Well, those are my deep two am thoughts.  The house is finally becoming cooler (happy sigh).  Thank you all for your continued prayers.  Have sweet sleep my friends!

"Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus." I Thessalonians 5:16-18

Personal Prayer Requests

Immediate: Please pray we are able to get Ben's teeth fixed and heart echo QUICKLY and that the results are good.
Ben~At Home: That he continues to seek love, attaches, and finds a healthy stranger anxiety.  That he learns to stop aggression to himself and others.  That he learns the value of listening to mommy and daddy.   Finally, that he learns to play with toys (imaginative play) and be a child that he has never had a chance to be.

Me: For healing emotionally and for health (I'm struggling with stress related things due to the situation in the "U")...for patience and that I am not easily angered or critical (feeling a little grumpy...blick).

The Family: Please pray for each child's emotional, physical, and spiritual health AND PROTECTION.  That Thomas feels rested and for his professional life (blessing).    Please continue to pray for a vehicle (or a way for a vehicle) to present itself (see previous post about the unnamed prayer request) and finances.  Our house needs to be fixed (foundation and roof) and we hope someday to expand (possibly convert the garage) in order to have the room if God calls us again.   Please also pray we find a new and hopeful "normal".

Prayers for Others
Please forgive us if your prayer request is not listed.  We may not be sure if you wish us to share it.  Please shoot us an email and let us know!

*Please pray for a precious friend of mine.  Their newest blessing just had a EKG and Echo and it didn't turn out good.  This is all I am able to share right now, but please petition God on their behalf.  He knows who they are.

*Please pray for Selah, who had a very serious stroller accident.  Please join us in storming Heaven for a miracle of complete healing.  Please also pray for peace that passes understanding for her family.
*Please pray for Tommy, a tiny 15 year old from Eastern Europe.  He is very special needs and has only recently come home.

*Please pray for Eden, a little blessing from Ethiopia, who has a life threatening disorder.

*Please pray for Joey and Rex's family as they lost these sweet boys this last year.

*Please continue to pray for Ruby, Jeremiah, Katie, Carrington, Selah, Daniel, and Wes.  These little ones came into their families with health difficulties (this is an understatement).  A few were caused by severe situations of neglect or malnourishment (or both).

*Please pray for our friends the “K” family who is struggling with attachment and other situations.

*Please pray for my friend Jodi (and family) as they have grown by two precious boys recently.  Please pray for their health and for heath situations with all their blessings.

*Please pray for Eliz and her family as they transition with their many new blessings.  Also for her grown children and their healing as well.

*Please pray for Gena (and family) and their teen son. Please pray for him to come to know CHRIST.

*Please pray for the "S", "P", and "D" family.  Members of their families are fighting for their lives against drug addiction.

*Please pray for young Emma as she has recently moved to Uganda to minister to those beloved children of God and now has a precious son through the blessing of adoption.

*Please pray for Molly and her family as they seek a precious one from the "U".  Please pray for the process to be smooth.  Please pray for their son, their family, and the finances as they continue

In the joy of following our Heavenly Father, we sometimes choose to proceed with a whisper, a verse, or a downright shove...no matter how we follow Him, the momentum that follows is like nothing we've ever experienced before.

Join the momentum...it is a beautiful place to be. It's not always easy, but then the best things never are.
