Super Heros and a Jelly Bean (Intermission 1 1/2)

Once upon a time there was a pretty princess.  She was born a little different than others, yet very, very blessed.

She lived in a land where balloons were used as currency.

She had a smile that made people turn around and stare.  She had a voice meant for commanding attention.  The Lord gave this little girl vocal volume.

In order to walk, Princess Jelly Bean had to have surgery (http://everlastingmomentum.blogspot.com/2012/09/as-we-settle-in-for-night.html) at a very special hospital.

This hospital blessed Princess Jelly Bean's parents to NO end.

At a very special breakfast, this hospital asked if this little wonder would attend and deign to be photographed.  She acquiesced.  Her family was forever thankful to this wonderful institution.

What she didn't know was that this was the day her siblings magically became Super Heroes.

Princess Jelly Bean didn't even know Anna could drive.

Super Woman and her Mini Me.

You don't want to mess with these guys...

...or death and destruction is in your future (and rapping maybe)....

...or a little Kung Fu Fighting (HIYAH!).  Yes, I am singing.

Jael quickly learned that beauty can also be deadly.  Don't they look deadly?

Some of the siblings still remained undercover, but (sometimes scarily) all were well liked.

The girls just flocked around him.

Yet, there is a time to be serious.  Princess Jelly Bean's siblings weren't aware of this.

Instead they goofed and played....

At one point the princess tried to reign them in.    To distract them, faces were painted.

The newest sibling tried to be stern....

...but quickly gave up.

So unfortunately, the worst happened....balloons were lost.

Batman couldn't even save the day.

The moral of the story is this....

When using balloons as currency, keep Batman well paid....

....not Mommy.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Today we were blessed.
Last night we received a call from the PR department of the hospital that performed Jael's amputation surgery, created (and creates) her prosthetics...and blesses us in many different ways.  Ben is now a patient there also.
Side note: I think they may be under the assumption that we blessed them by letting them take Jael's picture this morning.  No, they were an answer to prayer.
There was a "Character Breakfast" this morning...the very first annual Character Breakfast.  They served breakfast, were given autograph books to have the MANY "characters" sign, and given a goody bag.  They even had a drawing for four large packages filled with miscellaneous items and gift certificates.  Each child was given four entries to put toward the package/packages they chose.  Ahem...we have nine children (36 entries). (I think the odds were in our favor, but I'm getting ahead of myself.)
These last couple years have not always been easy....BEYOND BLESSED, but has had some more difficult times.  This is NOT a complaint.  God's love shown throughout every storm.  The rainbows were beautiful.
Yet, because we just completed the foreign part of our adoption process, our ability to do anything that costs this summer is limited.  I've been racking my brain each week to try to find something that costs little or nothing to make this summer special.
Then we got this offer (which ended up being just the beginning).
The morning was full of laughter.  We are pretty much giant goofs.  The oldest two girls just happen to have super hero shirts on WITH capes.  (Ya, we were a little excited when we saw them at Wal-Mart.)
Jael took pictures with Cinderella to promote the AMAZIFUL Hospital (just made that word up, bet you never guessed).
This was toward the end of the photo shoot, Bekah joined in and Jael...started getting a tad distracted (smile).
And....Benjamin's name was drawn for one of the packages.
So, not only did the kids get to enjoy a morning that was a BLAST.... EACH got a goody bag with a box of popcorn, a REAL toy (depending on gender), two bendable creatures, a small gift card to a local game/restaurant/party place,  and coupons.
The package blew us away though.  It included SEVERAL tickets to different venues, board games, and a LARGE electronic toy we get to put together, and a couple other sweet gifts.
I'm thinking we just got an answer to prayers.  We are blessed.
So as my kids ran around with currency (balloons) tonight, I am thankful.  God provides, not just the big things, but the little smiles as well.
Thank you for continuing to keep our family in your prayers.  I would like to start posting prayer requests of others as well.  If you would like us to list your prayer requests here, please let me know.  If you would like for us to pray privately, just note that and we will not share.  Thank you for the opportunity to pray for you.
PRAYER REQUESTS
Immediate: Ben's first appointment for his teeth is this coming week (it's a referral process at the wonderful hospital above).  Please pray we are able to get Ben's teeth fixed and heart echo QUICKLY, that they have a cardiologist that can do the heart echo without a long referral wait (during the sedation for the teeth)..... and that the results are good.
Ben~At Home: That he continues to seek love, attaches, and finds a healthy stranger anxiety.  That he learns to stop aggression to himself and others.  That he learns the value of listening to mommy and daddy.   Finally, that he learns to play with toys (imaginative play) and be a child that he has never had a chance to be.
Me: For healing emotionally and for health (blood pressure specifically, which seems to go up the hyper vigilance that is gradually getting better)...for patience and that I am not easily angered or critical (feeling a little grumpy...blick).
The Family: Please pray for each child's emotional, physical, and spiritual health AND PROTECTION.  That Thomas feels rested and for his professional life (blessing).    Please continue to pray for a vehicle (or a way for a vehicle) to present itself (see previous post about the unnamed prayer request) and finances.  Please also pray we find a new and hopeful "normal".
  1. I've really enjoyed following your journey for Ben. What an amazing little guy he is and what a special family you have! Thank you for the offer to pray! We are in the process of adopting from the same country and would love prayers for the process, for our son, for our family, for the fundraising, etc. I'm sure you know what things to pray for having just been through it!
In the joy of following our Heavenly Father, we sometimes choose to proceed with a whisper, a verse, or a downright shove...no matter how we follow Him, the momentum that follows is like nothing we've ever experienced before.
Join the momentum...it is a beautiful place to be. It's not always easy, but then the best things never are.
