Barbs Flying

As time grew close to traveling to China, the barbs started happening.

We had survived a house fire, our refrigerator dying, our car being broken into, termites, our washing machine dying, a hole in the roof, the diamond of my engagement ring coming out, air conditioner breaking, and our foundation exploding (as well as many more things) with...well, a hiccup. You see, it's just stuff.

Then the master of lies fought dirty.  The stuff didn't work....but throwing pointy little darts at our children did.  Our children hurting, hurt us.  Oh, it was ugly.  It was uglier than I had shared during this time.  I feel nauseous thinking about it.  Dark, dark, dark yuck.....

Last night a teen came to us asking us if we could pray protection around our family.  They felt and intense feeling that we needed to pray...right then.

Wednesday, March 13th we found our Jonathan was in Heaven.  Friday, March 22nd we committed to Ben.  Saturday, March 23rd  (within hours of the prayer) the barbs...darts were flying.

No joke, it was that quick.

I must admit the "head on desk" feeling.

(Our child, if you are peeking in on this blog, know what I'm about to do.  We have about 600-1000 people that join us here daily...remember that as you continue to read.)

Friends, could you pray? Could you not only pray today for ALL our children, but cover them through when we travel? If history repeats, this will be just the beginning if a wall of prayer is not put in place.

Could you pray that God is ever present to each of them and they are protected from evil attacks?  Could you pray that their hearts are healed and that they see joy of following God, even in the hardest times?  Could you pray that their walk with God deepens and they feel the strength that only God can give?

Our family thanks you...our tender and weary hearts thank you.

To Our Child:  People are praying for you.  People who don't know you, but though their relationship with God and His Son Jesus Christ, love you....are praying.  We are praying.  God's love surrounds you.  You are cherished, prayed for, and a blessed child of God.  Proud we are to be your parents

(Shoot, I heard Yoda's voice while typing that last part.)

Thank you friends....

  1. Kat, thank you so much for posting this. Thank you for being open and sharing (I haven't yet found the courage to be so bold). I let my kiddos read this post because we are suffering in the same way here; it encouraged the kiddos greatly to know others were experiencing the same thing and that we could pray for them.

We are wrestling in prayer for protection and perseverance for your family, especially your child who is feeling the darts right now.

  2. To Tom and Kat's child,
You don't know me and I don't know you, but since we have Christ in our hearts than we are brothers/sisters in Christ... Joint heirs with Jesus. So I am praying for you right now. You are loved. You are created in God's image which means that He took the good parts of Himself (and really...He only has good parts) and built them into you. You are His child and nothing formed against you can harm you. You are equipped with Armour (and I assure you it is the latest fashion and never goes out of style). These are the tings that I am praying for you right now.

    Peace,
    :)De

  3. praying! The evil will stop at nothing and use anyone or anything he can. If we sit idle he leaves us alone- for we help no one. If we dare do the Will of God, he is ready to try to stop us. We are praying! (((HUGS)))

  4. My thoughts & prayers are with your family. I don't personally know you but want your worrying child to know that there is someone on the other side of the world that is thinking about your family & praying for their protection.

In the joy of following our Heavenly Father, we sometimes choose to proceed with a whisper, a verse, or a downright shove...no matter how we follow Him, the momentum that follows is like nothing we've ever experienced before.

Join the momentum...it is a beautiful place to be. It's not always easy, but then the best things never are.
