Back and Forth it Goes-Adoption

I read a post today that is true, but also made me realize something I hadn't touched on before. Truthfully, it also made me laugh.

It seems that often one spouse will run ahead, so excited about a new child, so excited about adopting.

One spouse may drag their feet. They just don't see it. They are fearful or flat out don't feel called.

Finally, while running ahead, one spouse stops...sits on a giant boulder...and prays.

While praying, they don't see their spouse walking up ahead. Walking up ahead because they are seeing the joy in a new child and adopting. God HAS convicted them.

When the praying spouse looks up, they realize that the next step is real and maybe a little more than scary. They then wrestle with a reality and struggle with God, trying to remember why God chose them in the first place.

Back and forth it goes, one spouse is ready and one is not quite there. This is more common than many realize. It's a heady thing to raise a child and not a choice taken lightly. Listening to God isn't a choice taken lightly either.

Yet, somewhere down this convoluted path, hand and hand you will eventually walk.

The cool thing about it is, it took this long because God knows the perfect timing, just as He knows our hearts. He knows the perfect timing for you to meet your child.

Here's the post I just thought was awesome today...enjoy!

  1. Ha, ha, so true! And it has happened to us in many other areas as well. I thought homeschooling sounded grand, hubby was unsure, so I sat back and just waited to see, then he said YES, WE'RE DOING IT! and I said "uh, but wait. . .it's going to be hard, I'll be the one doing it day after day, um...." and he was full speed ahead! This is just one small example. lol

In the joy of following our Heavenly Father, we sometimes choose to proceed with a whisper, a verse, or a downright shove...no matter how we follow Him, the momentum that follows is like nothing we've ever experienced before.

Join the momentum...it is a beautiful place to be. It's not always easy, but then the best things never are.
