"Faith" Booster Shot- Part Three

"By faith Enoch was taken from this life, so that he did not experience death; he could not be found, because God had taken him away. For before he was taken, he was commended as one who pleased God. And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him." Hebrews 11:5-6
* The story of Enoch can be found in Genesis 5:18-24

I never thought a whole lot about Enoch, God did...enough to remember him in His word.

We don't know a whole lot about Enoch. We don't hear about his early life, like David. We don't read about his celebrations and stumbles. What we do know about Enoch I love though!

"Enoch walked with God..." Genesis 5:24

Can you imagine any more that needs to be added?

We struggle with day to day dilemmas...stepping out in ways that make us uncomfortable. Sometimes it just makes other people uncomfortable. Yet these men mentioned in Hebrews 11 all had something that was so important that it needed to be shared with us. It wasn't always comfortable for them or those around them.

What did we need to learn from Enoch?

"For before he was taken, he was commended as one who pleased God. And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him."

Enoch walked with God. He pleased God. He was seeking God and was rewarded.

How very cool is that?

  1. Very cool indeed. The coolest, in fact. "Enoch walked with God. He pleased God. He was seeking God and was rewarded."

What a testament of faith. This is the type of faith that I pray for. Sometimes it brings up fear to have that type of faith, and since I know that fear is not of God, I pray. Thank you for reminding me of Enoch.

In the joy of following our Heavenly Father, we sometimes choose to proceed with a whisper, a verse, or a downright shove...no matter how we follow Him, the momentum that follows is like nothing we've ever experienced before.

Join the momentum...it is a beautiful place to be. It's not always easy, but then the best things never are.
